IS Bush an IDIOT? Is The Left Right? Is U.S. Port Deal Islamic Trojan Horse?!

I am very sad to say that the Left may have been Right all along. To allow the United Arab Emirates' company Dubai Port World to run several of our major ports, President Bush must be an idiot OR he must be insane or both, what else could it be?

Obviously, he doesn't WANT to put the USA in greater danger of a terrorist attack.

Thank God Michelle is starting to get wound up about this, she's got a bunch of stuff here: Michelle Malkin: BUSH DIGS IN

Here's one good reason Bush is way wrong: Globetrotting appeaser of dictators and defender of terrorist states Jimmy Carter agrees with him! From the Miami Herald, 'Carter backs Bush's stand on seaport-operations deal' (hat tip - Wizbang!)

WASHINGTON - President Bush is taking a battering from fellow Republicans, even the governors of New York and Maryland, over the administration's support for a decision that gives an Arab company control of some commercial operations at six major seaports -- including Miami-Dade's.

But he got a boost Monday from an unlikely source, frequent critic and former president Jimmy Carter, who downplayed fears that the deal poses a risk.

''The overall threat to the United States and security, I don't think it exists,'' Carter said on CNN's The Situation Room. ``I'm sure the president's done a good job with his subordinates to make sure this is not a threat. ...''

Read the rest here and get angry.

Of course Google News has tons of links to articles from around the world here.

This issue is getting louder and louder. I think Bush will lose this one, he could still turn this around to his advantage, or at least without doing too much more damage.

But I don't think he will. I think he's gonna try to fight this, and he and his cronies are going to look like total fools.

Why? Because if Bush & Co. does manage to get this deal done, the criticism will be endless, even if a terrorist attack attributed even in part to a screw-up in the ports doesn't happen.

Because even then, it still could happen.

If the deal gets through and a terrorist attack does happen, especially if the ports are found to have played a part; the partisan and the bi-partisan shit will totally hit the fan.

The Republicans will be gone from power for at least about 20 years I reckon.

Bush's name will be mud for the history books.

So why is Bush so behind this?

The Journal Standard is not and puts it quite simply: Opinion - Ports must be kept under U.S. control

"...Critics say it's wrong to judge a nation by the company it keeps. But we say it's not xenophobic at all to keep Islamic nations from controlling security for what are already the least secure points of entry into the nation. It's just common sense."

Maybe Bush is just trying to be 'open' and politically correct and embrace an Islamic state. He's trying to show that he cares for the innocent peaceful Muslims.

He wants to prove it so bad that he's willing to offer up our ports as a token of the trust and love he has for one of our biggest MidEast 'partners' in the Global War on Islamic Fascism and Terror, or rather the GWIFT.

Maybe at some point he was holding hands with Sheikh Khalifa, Ruler of Abu Dhabi, like he did last year on his ranch with King Saud from Saudia Arabia.

Take a look at these guys, do you really want them to be the bosses of the bosses of the major U.S. ports?

Maybe he feels he'd be letting down his filthy rich friend in the desert if he doesn't let him and their cronies make some BIG BIG money on this merger and the subsequent jumpstart of their little stock exchange into a Middle Eastern financial bonanza.

Hey, I'm all for them having a robust stockmarket in the MidEast, but not at this price.

By the way, I wonder why GlobalSecurity.org doesn't have any news on this today. That seems pretty lame.

Apparently, a few weeks ago, Bush nominated the Director of Operations for Europe and Latin America for DP World, Dave Sanborn, to be the influential Maritime Administrator reporting to Secretary of Transportation, Norm Mineta.

This port deal should NOT be shot down for any single reason like:

The CEO of DP World is a Mohammed Sharaf.

Or not because he looks like this here (scroll down).

Or not because terrorist funds have been laundered in Abu Dhabi.

Or not because weapons bound for terrorist states have flowed through their main port.

Or not because a couple of the 9/11 Terrorists were from the UAE.

Or maybe not even just because they are Islamics who more likely than not to have some friends and close connections who are terrorists or terrorist sympathisers and Radical IslamOfascists.

Not for any one of these reasons, but put them all together, and you have more than enough reason to shoot this stupid deal down.

Bush should just apologize to his Sheik friend and explain that it's not his fault, he was simply over-ruled by the American people. The U.S.A. he should point out is of course not a Monarchy like the U.A.E., it's not up to just the President of the United States.

In a true Democracy, he doesn't have the final say.

Finally, Jihad Watch rightfully asks "Has Bush Gone Mad?"

We all have to wonder whether the old boy has finally snapped.

Bush has finally promised his first veto will be against any legislation Congress puts forth to scuttle this deal.

Wouldn't it be mucho embarassing for Mr. Bush if his first veto ever was over-ridden?

Let's hope he comes to his senses, for the sake of all of us, and for the sake of the GWIFT.
